Moretta Pedal Car
Pedal car designed for children aged 4–6, developed within an ergonomics and form-giving course with a focus on safety, usability, and early cognitive development. The project explores how learning can be embedded implicitly in play, rather than added as explicit educational features. Design decisions were grounded in the physical, cognitive, and sensory characteristics of the age group. The design introduces children to a variety of basic shapes and forms through repeated geometric elements and rhythm, supporting visual recognition and clarity. Numbers (1–10), meters, and simple signifiers are introduced in context through a physical, air-driven fuel system that reinforces basic cause–effect mental models. In parallel, secondary users were considered through handling-oriented details that allow parents to lift and move the car comfortably. Outcome: a fully detailed, hand-finished 1:5 scale sight model and a comprehensive design report including ergonomic analysis and validation against safety requirements.
